With engagement pictures and a wedding right around the corner, I’ve really been trying to take care of my skin. After researching the use and benefits of different ingredients and essential oils, I put together a spray that can be used to tone your skin, clear acne, hydrate, and also set your makeup.

You’ll find that glycerin is one of the top ingredient on most setting sprays. It keeps the moisture in your skin and is known as a skin protectant, which is why it used in setting sprays. Rose water is super beneficial for acne prone skin because it has anti-inflammatory properties. It also reduces redness and helps to clean blocked pores. Aloe Vera is also moisturizing and is great for irritated and dry skin. Plus, it feels amazing. Lemon essential oil not only smells great, but it is known to be naturally antibacterial. It says on the box that it is “cleansing, clarifying, and purifying.” The same goes for tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is becoming wildly popular for acne prone skin because of its purifying properties.

DIY face toner and setting spray

What you’ll need:

1 tbsp of aloe vera

1 tbsp of glycerin and rose water*

5 drops of lemon essential oil

5-8 drops of tea tree oil

Purified water

3 oz spray bottle

* It was extremely hard for me to find rose water in my area, but I did find rose water and glycerin already combined. If you can find them separately, you can use rose water to fill the rest of the bottle instead of water (but the smell is a tad too strong for me anyways.)

Add your aloe vera, glycerin & rose water, lemon essential oil, and tea tree oil to your spray bottle and then fill the rest of the way with purified water (I used bottled drinking water.) Shake gently every time you use it.

I use this before and after my makeup as well as before I go to sleep. It keeps me moisturized but not oily and my face is clearing up quickly! I love it!
