Wearing makeup has been extremely rare the past couple of weeks due to my current obsession with Prison Break on Netflix… The fiancรฉ and I CAN’T STOP WATCHING IT. It’s amazing. But anyway, yesterday evening when I was doing my makeup, I realized that lately, I have been grabbing the same 5 lipsticks over and over again. So I thought I would share with everyone what they are and what I love about them. And can you tell what my favorite color family is? ๐Ÿ™‚

1. E.L.F. Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Natural

This lipstick is in a jump crayon form and it has beautiful color. It’s easy to apply and very precise. It twists up, so no need to sharpen. However, should you need to sharpen it for any reason, there is a built-in sharpener that pulls out on bottom! One of my favorite things about this lipstick is that it is not drying AT ALL, which can sometimes be hard to find in a matte lipstick. I think this is due to the first ingredient being a mineral oil. The greatest thing about it, though, is the price. It is only $3! There is a couple of cons of this lipstick though. It is not very long-lasting and does transfer, but for that price and the moisture it gives, I don’t mind having to reapply every now and then.

You can purchase it here.

2. MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Burnt Spice

This is a liquid lipstick with a dough-foot applicator. The color is gorgeous and described on the website as a “creamy dirty rose” and it is truly matte. It sets quickly on the lips. On a 1-10 scale of how drying this lipstick is, I’d give it a 6. It’s not so drying that it is bothersome but it’s not full of moisture either. ย This color and Candy K by Kylie is super similar, however I don’t really find myself reaching for one more than the other. I usually keep this one in my purse, rather than at my makeup station, though. The price is $21 and you get 5 mL or .17 fl oz of product. It is very long-wearing. I can apply this on top of any lip liner and head to Five Guys and grub down and this lipstick will still be going strong!

You can purchase it here.

3. MAC Lipstick in Velvet Teddy

This lipstick should seriously be a staple in everyone’s lipstick collection. It’s nourishing and this is a color that looks amazing on all skin tones. It is matte, but it never really dries completely so it does transfer. However, even though it doesn’t set down completely and dry like a matte usually does, it is still long-wearing. It is $17 and you get 3 grams or .1 oz of product.

You can purchase it here.

4. Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Candy K

Everyone has heard of these liquid lipsticks and there’s a reason why! They really are the best liquid lipstick I have ever tried. This is because they are extremely long-wearing, they don’t transfer at all, and the color selection is beautiful. They come with a matching lip pencil in the Lip Kit and I highly recommend buying the kit because while the lipstick looks and acts great on its own, it seems much more long-wearing with the matching lip pencil underneath. Another reason I recommend wearing the lip pencil with it is that the lipstick on its own can be kind of drying and a couple of hours into wearing it, I normally apply some chapstick on top, but don’t seem to have this problem when I wear the lip pencil underneath. The Candy K Lip Kit is $29 and you get 0.11 fl oz or 3.25 mL of liquid lipstick.

You can purchase it here.

5. Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in Pillowtalk

So. I have seen MANY bad reviews about this liquid lipstick. However, I don’t hate it at all. This is the only color I have tried though, and sometimes different colors have different formulas. This color is beautiful. I opt for lighter nudes when doing a more dramatic eye look and this is the one I usually grab. It is long-wearing and doesn’t transfer. This is one of the more drying lipsticks, however, you can just popย some EOS lip balm or a clear gloss on top and it fixes that. This lipstick is $20 and you get 6 mL or 0.20 fl oz.

  5. My favorite right now is the NYX butter gloss in Rasberry Tart. I forgot all about the elf ones I use to love them in High school.

    1. I just recently found out about the ELF lip crayons… I actually thought they were kind of new when I bought them! Haha. I will have to try the NYX butter glosses. NYX is one of my fave brands!

  6. I love the natural nude lip look – it’s easy to wear and add a smoke eye and anyone looks amazing with this look! MAC spice has been a favourite for a while – I should re-stock, thanks for the reminder!

    1. Thanks so much for reading! The lip paints are amazing, I just need more colors!

    1. If you only choose one lipstick, I would go for just a regular MAC lipstick in a nudey natural color. They are super amazing! Thanks for reading!

  8. Great variety, I am definitely going to be trying a couple of these. My go to is a NARS lipstick/gloss combo. I love the way the colors work together, but it’s so boring so I need to step out of my comfort zone for sure!

    1. I need to try that! What color? I’m all about those “boring” colors when I’m just trying to have a light makeup day, haha!

    1. I forget about elf too! They have a lot of products out that I’ve been wanting to try! Thanks for reading ๐Ÿ™‚
